On the occasion of its 100th anniversary, which will be celebrated in 2026, the Giovanni Nicelli Airport in Venice has organised an archive exhibition on three editions to retrace the highlights of the building’s history. The idea is to recompose, piece by piece, a single permanent exhibition, which, from 2026, will enliven its spaces, recently renovated while respecting the original architecture.
This year, from 6th July to 29th September, the airport bunker is hosting the second chapter of the initiative, through photographs, posters, postcards and films which tell the story from Italy’s entry into the war in 1940, to the opening of Tessera airport in 1961. Through the lens of Nicelli, an important crossroads during the period of the World War and the Reconstruction, with frequent gatherings of the international jet set in Venice, visitors can thus delve into a chapter of the history of the Serenissima and the nation in general.
Prisma, a Veneto-based company now in its forty-first year, is also supporting the project ‘From Venice to the World’ as part of a series of activities to support and celebrate its home territory. ‘We were born and raised in the Veneto region, and after all this time we invariably feel part of its fabric’ says Silvano Ongaro, founder and president at Prisma. ‘It is an honour for us to support such an important initiative with our products, in one of the symbolic places of Venice and the region in general’.
Prisma – which manufactures professional equipment for the preparation, conservation and display of food and beverage and which is present all over the world with its products on land and on ship – in support of the private inauguration on 5h July in the presence of the authorities, has made its professional cocktail stations available to create dedicated bar corners within the bunker spaces.
The exhibition ‘From Venice to the World – Between War and La Dolce Vita’ is staged by OTT ART and is open with free admission every day, from 10AM to 6PM.
